About Write! Canada
Since 1984 the Write! Canada conference has played a crucial role in nurturing Canadian writers and editors who are Christian.Until 2001, Faith Today magazine and the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada organized the annual conference, then known as God Uses Ink.
In 2001, The Word Guild was established and assumed responsibility for the conference, starting with the 2002 event. The name was changed to Write! Canada in 2004 to mark the conference's 20th anniversary. The 25th annual conference was celebrated from June 18 to 20, 2009 in a special reunion event. No conference was held in 1991, a transition year.
Write! Canada has provided encouragement and inspiration, developed a sense of community, fostered excellence and professionalism, and offered invaluable opportunities for networking, marketing and skills training. This conference is designed to be a warm and supportive environment in which participants from many backgrounds and Christian traditions are united in their common love of God and of writing. Whether in the classroom or in informal conversation, the focus is on subjects that foster the pursuit of excellence in writing.
The conference has impacted three generations of Canada’s Christian writers and editors, from their teens to seventies, from much-published professionals to aspiring writers. Many have notched up significant career achievements thanks to Write! Canada, ranging from getting their first article published, to meeting their literary agent, editor or publisher, getting a new job, signing a book contract or making key industry contacts.
