The Canadian Christian Writing Awards Gala June 16, 2010
We encourage you to plan your travel to Write! Canada so that you can attend The Canadian Christian Writing Awards Gala the night before the conference, on Wednesday, June 16th, 7:30 p.m. at World Vision Canada headquarters at 1 World Drive, Mississauga, Ontario (one light north of Highway 401, just off Hurontario Street).
The premier national event honouring Canadian writers who are Christian will present awards for outstanding career achievement, and for the best novels, non-fiction books, articles, and poems published in 2009. The evening will include a catered reception at 9:30 p.m. You will be able to meet many of your writing colleagues, fellow members of The Word Guild and Write! Canada registrants, as well as applaud and support our best writers.
This is a black-tie event, so we are requesting tuxedos or dark suits with ties for men, formal or semi-formal wear for women. (However, don’t let wardrobe concerns keep you away, especially if you're packing light or coming from a distance; just wear your best outfit!)
The Gala organizers would love to get your help as a volunteer, either on the planning team or at the event. Contact The Word Guild to see how you can get involved.
All Write! Canada faculty members and registrants are warmly welcomed to attend. You can order a ticket at the same time as you register for Write! Canada. Order additional tickets for family or friends at the same time.
Price for members of The Word Guild: $10.
Price for non-members: $15
Price at the door will be $20 for everyone.
Please purchase tickets in advance if possible, so we have a better idea of numbers.
To order tickets, visit our new Awards site and you can either pay by Paypal or send a cheque to The Word Guild, PO Box 1243, Trenton ON K8V 5R9. Please include your email address, since the tickets will be mailed electronically.
If you need to arrange Wednesday overnight accommodation after attending the Gala, we suggest booking a hotel or B&B in Guelph, about a 45-minute drive away. See more information about hotels and Bed & Breakfast facilities under Location/Accommodation. (Accommodation at the Guelph Bible Conference Centre on Wednesday night is only available for conference faculty, staff and pre-approved volunteer crew.)
