The "gift bag" of free promotional materials for enthusiastic conference-goers at Write! Canada is always popular and anticipated.
The Word Guild provides this exclusive marketing opportunity as a benefit to the following poeple:
• Members of The Word Guild, whether or not they plan to attend the conference.
• Write! Canada registrants.
• Write! Canada faculty members.
• Write! Canada and/or Awards Gala exhibitors.
• Writing awards sponsors, if included in the package benefits.
Businesses: Promote your business’s products and services through pens, pencils, notepads, mugs, letter openers, or other small items with your Web site and other contact info.
Newspapers and magazines: Promote your publication through providing recent sample copies and a coupon with a special subscription offer for Write! Canada registrants and/or members of The Word Guild.
Individuals: Promote your books, publications, CDs, or writing-related services (editing, writing for hire, speaking, teaching, photography, desktop publishing, etc.).
NOTE: Remember that most people will not have time to look at all the items in their bag until they get home, so the technique of designating one specially marked item to win a prize will not work unless you provide clear written instructions and are willing to ship the prize to the winner afterwards. We will not have time to make any special announcements about gift bag contents during the conference.
Suggested materials:
• free books
• sample chapters of published books
• recent issues of magazines or newspapers, with discount coupons for subscriptions
• bookmarks
• brochures
• business cards or postcards that explain what you offer
• CDs or DVDs
• pens, refrigerator magnets or other small items with your Web site or other contact info
• one-page flyers or "one-sheets" that describe your product or services (note: you are best to print flyers on minimum 24 lb. paper so they don't get creased too easily in the bag)
• whatever your imagination has come up with that promotes what you have to offer (photos, calendars, chocolate bars, cookies, gum, packets of tea, souvenirs, little toys, etc.; make sure what you send is professional-appearing and not easily perishable or breakable.)
Number of items to send: 225
Cost for handling: $20 per item (Note: 225 bookmarks is one item. If you also send 225 brochures, send an additional $20.) Make the cheque payable to The Word Guild.
Deadline: The items and the cheque must be shipped or delivered to the home of the conference registrar Bonnie Gilpin to arrive no later than Friday June 4, 2010.
